Award-Winning Care: Cox Barton County Hospital Honored for Stroke Excellence
Cox Barton County Hospital has once again been recognized for its commitment to delivering quality care, earning multiple Get With The Guidelines® achievement awards from the American Heart Association.
This year, the hospital received the following awards:
· Rural Stroke (Gold)
· Rural Heart Failure (Silver)
· Stroke Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll (Silver Plus)
· Resuscitation (Bronze)
These honors demonstrate the hospital’s dedication to ensuring that patients with heart failure and stroke receive care that adheres to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines. This commitment ultimately leads to improved outcomes and saves more lives in rural communities.
"I am very proud that our stroke program has received the highest award from the American Heart Association for rural stroke care," says Dr. Jeremy Sturgell, medical director of the Cox Barton ER. "Our program has consistently performed at a high level for many years, and it is wonderful to have the hard work of our staff and the exceptional patient care provided by our hospital recognized in this way."
To further advance its heart and stroke care, Cox Barton recently invested in a 64-slice CT scanner, providing faster, higher-quality imaging to help physicians diagnose and treat patients more quickly and accurately. This upgrade is especially critical for stroke patients, where every second counts.
"We are grateful to CoxHealth and the CoxHealth Foundation for their investment in upgrading our existing technology," says Dr. Sturgell. "Receiving these awards and recognitions motivates us to maintain our commitment to providing exceptional care for our community, which remains our top priority."
Get With The Guidelines® is the Amercian Heart Association’s hospital-based quality improvement program that provides hospitals with tools and resources to increase adherence to the latest scientific treatment guidelines. Studies show that hospitals that consistently follow these guidelines can see measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
As a rural hospital, Cox Barton plays a critical role in providing advanced care locally, ensuring patients don’t have to travel far for life-saving treatment.
